Cloud Architect / Toronto, Canada

I design and run the cloud platform behind a multi-tenant analytics SaaS used by Canadian investment management firms — from tenant isolation and identity through to the data layer, the security controls, and the evidence that satisfies an enterprise procurement review.

Reference architecture: isolated client tenants routed through single sign-on into an AKS-hosted analytics platform backed by PostgreSQL. DEDICATED TENANT PER CLIENT Client A prod / non-prod Client B prod / non-prod Client C prod / non-prod Identity Entra ID · Keycloak SSO Data.iQ on AKS services · workers · API PgBus queueing PostgreSQL Flexible Server Reporting React · Superset Microsoft Sentinel · Azure Monitor · audit & access logging

02 — Scope

What sits on my desk

Platform architecture

Multi-tenant Azure design with a dedicated tenant and separated production and non-production subscriptions per client. Kubernetes workloads on AKS, capacity and SKU planning, environment build-out.

Identity & access

Entra ID and Keycloak-based single sign-on, Microsoft Graph provisioning at scale, group and entitlement models, external identity patterns for client users.

Data infrastructure

PostgreSQL as the platform data layer — migration, parameter tuning, benchmarking and performance work, plus the in-house queueing that moves work between services.

Security & assurance

SOC 2 documentation, security questionnaires and RFP responses for enterprise clients, SIEM rollout and tuning, and the risk framing that goes to the executive team.

03 — Selected work

Recent programs

Data platform

Production PostgreSQL migration

Moved production workloads from Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL to Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server: benchmarking, parameter alignment between engines, connection-handling fixes and a written migration risk assessment for sign-off.

Compliance

SOC 2 program & enterprise security review

Led the compliance documentation effort backing RFPs from large financial institutions — consolidating policy and architecture source material into a single authoritative reference, then producing tailored answers to client security questionnaires.

Identity

Enterprise client onboarding at scale

Automated Entra ID provisioning for a major insurer's beta rollout — PowerShell against the Microsoft Graph API with client-credentials auth, bulk account creation, security group management and welcome/password-setup flows.

Operations

Authentication diagnostics

Built the analysis that turns raw Keycloak identity-provider logs into a categorized picture of failed sign-ins by error type and client firm, so support and engineering stop guessing at authentication incidents.

Security operations

SIEM deployment and MSSP position

Stood up Microsoft Sentinel and drove its tuning, and set out the reasoning behind operating without a third-party MSSP as a documented, revisited risk decision rather than an omission.

04 — Experience

Track record

Cloud Architect

Infinite Investment Systems Present
  • Own the cloud architecture of Data.iQ, a multi-tenant data warehousing and analytics platform for Canadian investment management firms.
  • Set the tenant, identity and data-layer patterns each new client deployment is built from.
  • Act as the technical counterpart in enterprise security reviews, RFPs and compliance work.
  • Partner with DevOps, engineering and leadership on infrastructure cost, risk and roadmap decisions.

Lead Software Developer

Ceridian Prior
  • Led a microservice team building a new in-house content management system.
  • Owned technology decisions, architecture and overall system design for the Hub microservice, along with its infrastructure, production deployments and monitoring.
  • Set scalability and performance criteria, and coordinated dependencies across internal and external teams.
  • Grew the team — interviewing, running technical screens, and clearing impediments so engineers could ship.
  • Delivered features alongside clients, prospects and implementation partners in a scrum team, and mentored developers through code review.

Senior Software Developer

Cority Prior
  • Senior developer on an agile R&D team — gathering requirements, producing detailed designs and providing estimates.
  • Worked across new and legacy enterprise web applications handling sensitive data, complex calculations and large data sets.
  • Owned technical research, proofs of concept and prototypes, and led performance evaluation and improvement initiatives.
  • Analyzed, built, supported and maintained complex SaaS software solutions.

Application Developer

Workopolis Prior
  • Progressed through UI Developer, Application Developer and Senior Application Developer on one of Canada's largest job-search platforms.
  • Built and maintained consumer-facing applications at national traffic volumes.

06 — Off the clock

Machines, mostly

Home lab

This site is served off a box in my house — Docker behind nginx, Cloudflare DNS kept current by a small Worker acting as a dynamic-DNS shim for the router. Running my own infrastructure at home is how I keep the instincts sharp for running it at work.

Cars

The same instinct pointed at something with a torque curve. I do my own maintenance and diagnostics rather than handing the keys over — reading the symptoms, tracing the cause, fixing the actual thing. It turns out to be the same job as debugging a production incident, just with worse lighting.

Motorcycles

Ontario gives you a short riding season, so none of it goes to waste. Two wheels is the part of the week with no dashboards, no alerts and nothing to escalate.
